American music icon Lionel Richie has been hospitalized after undergoing treatment for atrial fibrillation, an irregular heart rhythm, forcing him and Earth, Wind & Fire to cancel three upcoming shows on their “Sing a Song All Night Long” tour.
Richie, 77, underwent a procedure known as an ablation to treat the condition. His representative confirmed that the procedure went well and that the singer is recovering.

“The doctor said everything went perfectly. Lionel is doing great but will take some time off and will be back on stage soon,” his representative said.
The cancelled performances were scheduled for September 26 in San Francisco, September 30 in Chicago and October 2 in Columbus, Ohio. Ticket holders are expected to receive information on rescheduled dates or refunds through the original points of purchase. (San Francisco Chronicle)
