The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed October 9, 2026, for the commencement of nationwide collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, announced the date on Monday in Kaduna during the Commission’s North-West Zonal Interactive Meeting and Readiness Assessment for the 2027 elections.
The Commission disclosed that its recent Continuous Voter Registration exercise produced 10,772,421 new registrations, subject to biometric verification.
INEC has also directed officials to address logistical bottlenecks in PVC distribution to ensure eligible voters are not disenfranchised.
