The Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abdullahi Abubakar Mustapha, has paid a condolence visit to retired Rear Admiral FD Akpan following the death of his wife, Chief Dr Mrs Victoria Akpan.
The visit took place in Lagos on Tuesday, 22 April 2026, as the FOC and members of his team joined the bereaved family in mourning and offered words of comfort.
Rear Admiral Mustapha expressed the Command’s deepest condolences to the family, praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased and for God to grant the family strength and comfort.
He also prayed that the values, memories and legacy of Chief Dr Mrs Victoria Akpan would continue to live on through her family and those whose lives she touched.

Responding, Rear Admiral Akpan expressed appreciation to the FOC and his team for taking time out of their demanding schedules to visit the family. He described the gesture as a reflection of the enduring bond of brotherhood and camaraderie among Nigerian Navy officers, both serving and retired.
Reflecting on his late wife, the retired senior officer described her as his pillar, trusted friend and companion, noting that their relationship was built on deep understanding, friendship and companionship.
Rear Admiral Akpan also offered words of counsel to the FOC and his team, urging them to remain committed to the ideals of the Nigerian Navy, uphold professionalism and continue to contribute meaningfully to the Service and the nation.
